A COUNTY councillor and ex-teacher accused of sexually abusing children has been cleared of six counts by a jury.
Anthony Hampton, 74, from Barry, was found not guilty at Cardiff Crown Court of six out of the 20 historical allegations he faced.
He was acquitted of indecent assault.
The jury was unable to reach verdicts on the other 14 charges of indecent and was discharged by Judge David Wynn Morgan after reaching a deadlock.
The prosecution has 14 days to decide if they are to seek another trial on the outstanding counts.
Hampton is a Vale of Glamorgan councillor.
