A KNIFEMAN terrified his neighbours when he waved a 10-inch blade around in the street while pursuing a “vendetta” against another local resident.
Christopher Parker, 54, of Gordon Avenue, Swffryd, near Abertillery, went home to arm himself with the blade when a row broke out in nearby Hector Avenue.
William Bebb, prosecuting, told Cardiff Crown Court: “The defendant was seen pulling out a knife and waving it around in a threatening manner.
“It was described as a 10-inch weapon that was double-bladed and it was brandished in the street in broad daylight.”

Parker left the scene but a witness called 999 and he was arrested.
The defendant pleaded guilty to affray with the offence being committed on the morning of Friday, August 14, 2020.

Mr Bebb said Parker had 28 previous convictions for 78 offences but had not been in trouble with the police since 2013.
The court heard the defendant was convicted of robbery in 1983 and wounding in 1984.
Judge Niclas Parry told Parker: “Do not bring your personal vendettas into the public arena.

“You went home and then went back for more aggro.
“You’ve got a bad criminal record but the relevant convictions are very old.
“There was an element of provocation.”
He jailed the defendant for six months but the sentence will be suspended for the next two years.
Parker was made the subject of an electronically monitored curfew which will last for three months between the hours of 7pm and 7am.
He must also complete a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement.
Before the defendant, who was on crutches, left the dock, the judge warned him: “If you don’t comply, we will meet again and you will be leaving through a different door.”
The court was told the knife was not recovered.
