SPOOKY season is nearly upon us – and excitement levels are ramping up.
Always a popular celebration, Hallowe'en is an event which sees homes decorated, costumes worn, and sweets devoured.
But, there is one thing that symbolises the holiday more than anything else.
As sure as chocolate eggs are associated with Easter, and spruce trees are seen as a sign of Christmas, Hallowe'en would be nothing without the trusty pumpkin.
Soon, the supermarkets will be stocked full of the orange fruit – ready to be taken home and carved into something frightening.

But, until then, they continue to grow in the fields – which can make for a spectacular sight.
Perhaps not the most popular item grown on Welsh soil, pumpkin farms aren’t exactly a dime a dozen.
But, there are a handful across the nation, and some are more popular than other.
Below, you can check out the most popular pumpkin patches in Wales.

These are the best pumpkin patches in Wales
Earlier this month, online DIY community DIYS.com conducted research, in a bid to find the top location in Wales for pumpkin patches.
They compiled a list of the most popular locations in the UK using PumpkinPatchesAndMore.org and cross-referenced the hashtags on Instagram – to find which sites were most visited and talked about by fans of pumpkins.
Using this method, it was determined that the best pumpkin farm is Pencoed Fach Organic Farm – in Gwent.
The Blackwood farm was hashtagged 448 times – but isn’t the only Gwent location to be among the best.
Clearwell Farm, which is located between Cardiff and Newport, was the fourth best pumpkin patch, with nearly 200 people taking to social media to talk about it.
On the whole, South Wales has triumphed over the north, with just one farm from North Wales making the list.
The top five can be found below:
1. Pencoed Fach Organic Farm - Gwent
2. Forage Farm - South Glamorgan (Cardiff, Vale of Glamorgan)
3. Gower Fresh Christmas Trees - West Glamorgan (Neath Port Talbot, Swansea)
4. Clearwell Farm – Gwent
5. Bellis Country Market - Clwyd (Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Wrexham)
