A CHARITY beer festival planned for this autumn has been postponed because of the coronavirus situation.

Tenby Round Table has staged the event for a number of years, with the last Tenby Beer Festival raising £10,000.

The pandemic led the organisation to cancel last year's event and has now tken a decision to postpone the 2021 festival to the spring.

It is hoped that 2022 will then see two festivals taking place.

In a Facebook post this week, Tenby Round Table said: "Unfortunately, with the changing guidance on Covid passes and rising case numbers, we have taken the decision to postpone this year’s charity beer festival until the spring.

"This event is put on by volunteers from our community, for our community, and we feel that the timing is still not right to bring such a large event back to our town.

"Although we fully believe that the De Valance is well prepared for hosting large events, the Beer Festival brings its own challenges in terms of organisation and crowd control.

"However, the good news is that we are planning to hold TWO beer festivals in 2022 to make up for this – one in the spring and one in the autumn! We would rather wait a few more months to be able to put on an event when Covid case numbers are hopefully falling rather than rising in our town.

"Thank you for your continued support and understanding. We look forward to seeing you soon!

"Any companies that are able to sponsor a barrel for the upcoming events, please drop us a message and we will be in touch in due course."
