ALMOST 400 new cases have been recorded in Gwent, according to Public Health Wales.
Across Wales, 2,580 new cases have been reported in the 24 hours up to 9am on Thursday – the latest figures available – of which 398 were in Gwent.
The majority of the new cases were recorded in Caerphilly – 131 – and Newport – 112.

A further 89 cases were recorded in Torfaen, and 40 in Monmouthshire.
Blaenau Gwent recorded 26 new cases – the joint fewest of any authority in Wales, alongside Merthyr Tydfil.
In Gwent, only Monmouthshire currently has a rolling seven-day case rate lower than the Wales-wide figure – 648.1 per 100,000 people.
Monmouthshire’s case rate – up to September 25 – stands at 428.2, which is the second lowest in Wales – behind only Wrexham (419.3).
Torfaen’s case rate is 668.4 – with 13 local authorities having a lower case rate – and Newport’s is 684 – the 15th lowest in Wales.
Caerphilly (848.8) has the third highest case rate – behind Neath Port Talbot (935.7) and Rhondda Cynon Taf (876.6).
Blaenau Gwent (735.7) has the seventh highest case rate in Wales.
A total of 13 new coronavirus deaths have been recorded in Wales in the latest Public Health Wales release. None of these were in Gwent, where the death toll remains at 1,007.
