A NEWPORT businessman hopes to raise £50,000 in 50 days to support refugees fleeing the Taliban in Afghanistan.
E!studios owner Gavin Thomas has slashed prices of his half-day studio hire and will donate all proceeds to One By One, a British charity helping those who are fleeing the crisis in the Middle East.
Mr Thomas, 28, said he and wife Georgia were moved after watching news reports and hearing about the charity’s work.
He said: "We heard of one lady who was eight months’ pregnant who had to flee Afghanistan. It broke our hearts to hear about her journey and the pain she will have endured.
“We all saw the pictures of people clinging to planes and handing babies over barbed wire fencing. It seems a million miles away from home but we know we had to do something.
“One By One is a charity my wife and I personally support and we have watched their work with the Afghan refugees. They are helping people safely transit into other countries and then taking care of their immediate needs, whether that be food, clothing, medical or help with their legal paperwork.
“We normally rent the studios out for £750 for half a day but we’re reducing the price to £500 for 50 days. We won’t take a penny throughout this offer and will give all proceeds to One By One to ensure the money goes where it can make a real difference.
“Our team is really excited – we hope clients will get on board and show their support at this time.”
E!studios, which is based at Clarence House in Newport city centre, was launched by Mr Thomas earlier this year and offers video content to clients for use on social media, website, adverts, podcasts, YouTube or television. He has an in-house camera crew and editing team. The special offer for four hours’ studio hire and editing will run from October 1 to November 19.
