‘Port Electro – an electro and alternative club night hosted monthly (when covid regulations allow) in Newport since 2017 – returns this month with a Gary Numan tribute.
Pat Martin and the Liquid Engineers will perform upstairs (Stow Hill Rooms) at Pen & Wig on Stow Hill from 7.30pm on Saturday October 9.
Ian Bode, who helps organise the event along with Alyson Waite, said: “We had Pat Martin ‘Port Electro a couple of years ago and tickets sold out, so we’re hoping to get a good turnout for this night [October 9].”
‘Port Electro raises money for different charities each month – this one will fundraise for British Heart Foundation, with £5 entry.

Explaining the origin behind ‘Port Electro club nights Mr Bode said: “Unable to find anywhere in the Newport area that played the favourite tracks of our youth, we were determined to bring our love of electro and alternative music to the ‘Port.
“We found the perfect venue and ‘Port Electro was launched – it attracts a wonderfully mixed and diverse crowd; those who remember the music being released and younger ones who are discovering this music for the first time.
“Everyone who comes has one thing in common: a love of music. Look out for laser lights, fabulous surroundings, a great friendly atmosphere, and drinks – including real ale and cocktails – at pub prices.”
‘Port Electro’s Gary Numan tribute night will be from 7.30pm on Saturday, October 9, in the Stow Hill Rooms at Pen & Wig. Tickets are £5, with funds supporting British Heart Foundation.
