SUSPECTED "pop-up brothels" in Newport have been shut down following an investigation.

Two people have been charged with running a brothel as part of the long-term investigation by Tarian, the Regional Organised Crime Unit for South Wales:

  • A 43-year-old woman from Morecambe
  • A 51-year-old man from Southport

The investigation, which has been supported by Gwent Police also revealed information which has led to investigations in Fife, Kent, the Midlands and along the M4 corridor.

Detective Chief Inspector Steven Maloney from Tarian, said: “Tarian and Gwent Police have worked together to identify and close a number of suspected ‘pop-up’ brothels in the Newport area.

“Following a detailed investigation, on Wednesday September 29, officers visited two addresses in the northwest of England and arrested a man and woman from Southport and Morecambe on suspicion of running a brothel.”
