HERE are five train ticket dodgers from Gwent who will have to pay huge fines for failing to pay their rail fares after their cases were heard at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court.
The first defendant will have to hand over a penalty nearly 238 times what her ticket would have cost her.
JASMINE DEAN, 25, of Maerdy View, Rhymney, Caerphilly, was ordered to pay £665.80 in a fine, costs, compensation and a surcharge for not paying her £2.80 fare between Barry Docks and Barry Island on a Transport for Wales service on June 4.
The case was proved in her absence.

CHLOE BERRY, 20, of Maerdy View, Rhymney, Caerphilly, was ordered to pay £295.80 in a fine, costs, compensation and a surcharge for not paying her £2.80 fare between Barry Docks and Barry Island on a Transport for Wales service on June 4.
She pleaded guilty.
DYLAN PREECE, 18, of Glan Ffrwd, Caerphilly, was ordered to pay £297.90 in a fine, costs, compensation and a surcharge for not paying his £4.90 fare between Caerphilly and Barry Island on a Transport for Wales service on June 1.
He pleaded guilty.
LEAH RICHARDS, 24, of Moor Street Newport, was ordered to pay £119.50 in a fine, costs, compensation and a surcharge for not paying her £5.50 fare between Newport and Cardiff Central on a Transport for Wales service on May 1.
She pleaded guilty.
SCOTT WALL, 33, of Moor Street, Newport, was ordered to pay £298.50 in a fine, costs, compensation and a surcharge for not paying his £5.50 fare between Newport and Cardiff Central on a Transport for Wales service on May 1.
He pleaded guilty.
