MOTORISTS faced a morning rush hour of misery, as a crash on a busy section of the M4 caused disruption.
Shortly before 8am today (Monday, October 4) emergency services were called to the busy motorway on the westbound carriageway – following reports of a crash involving two cars.
It has been confirmed that the incident took place between junction 23 for Rogiet and the Prince of Wales Bridge.
According to social media posts by Traffic South Wales, it was treated as a live lane incident, which both vehicles affected quickly being moved onto the hard shoulder.
Gwent Police, who attended the scene, has since confirmed that there were no reported injuries.

As a result of the incident, there was reports of heavy congestion on the M4, with traffic flow slowing considerably.
For a short period of time, it is thought that traffic was stopped – though Traffic South Wales Tweeted to confirm that at around 8.07am, all traffic was released.
After a short period of congestion, traffic conditions for motorists crossing the bridge into Wales has since returned to normal.
But, with a yellow weather warning for rain coming into effect later today, motorists are being cautioned to take extra care during potentially challenging driving conditions.

Police statement in full
A Gwent Police spokesperson told the Argus: “We received a report of a road traffic collision on the M4, between junction 23 and Prince of Wales bridge, at around 7.45am on Monday, October 4.
“The collision involved two cars and no injuries were reported.”
