BRAVE Cyrus Parry from Cwmbran has had a difficult year by anybody's standards and he's only two.
Doctors made the shock discovery - a golf ball-sized cancerous lump on the two-year-old's brain - last July.
His parents Laura Harris and Rob Parry were told he faced a dangerous six-hour operation to remove the tumour immediately or he would be dead in two weeks.
Two days later, surgeons removed the tumour from the Cwmbran tot's brain - an operation that could have left him blind, disabled or dead.
Six months on Cyrus has amazed his family and doctors with his strength in fighting the illness doctors have confirmed he's in remission following an MRI scan which showed no signs of the tumour returning.
Ms Harris said she and partner Rob Parry were over the moon with the results.
"He's just got three more sessions of chemotherapy left which is great," said the mother-of-two from Northville, Cwmbran.
"He's a fantastic fighter and is just doing really well at the moment.
"The operation set him back and he had to learn how to walk all over again, but he's doing really well.
Cyrus suffered the major setback of contracting bacterial meningitis in July but according to Ms Harris he has coped fantastically with everything he's had to face.
The family are now hoping for a trouble-free year for the tot.
