JIMMY Carr has revealed the name of his son after becoming a father for the first time.
The 48-year-old comedian privately welcomed his baby boy into the world with his partner Karoline Copping two years ago.
Despite trying to keep his child out of the spotlight, news broke that he had become a father in September.
Since then he has spoken about his son’s name, Rockefeller, and the reasoning behind it.
In a recent interview, the 8 Out Of 10 Cats host revealed the name was a tribute to his fellow comedian Chris Rock and American businessman, John D Rochefeller.
Mr Carr said that the name, which was also that of the billionaire philanthropist, has a “hint of Chris Rock, the greatest ever comedian”.
He also spoke about how becoming a father could change his act.
Speaking to Radio Times he said: “It could be a bit of a gear shift, because of the kind of comedy I do, but so far, I'm still telling the same jokes, I've got the same sense of humour.”
“We'll see, because I'm sure I'm going to be writing a lot of material about him.”
Jimmy Carr opens up on grief after death of Sean Lock
Tributes poured in for Sean Lock from fans and celebrity pals alike after it was announced he had died in August, aged 58.
Known for his surreal content and deadpan style, Mr Lock was a team captain on Jimmy Carr’s Channel 4 comedy panel show 8 Out Of 10 Cats and spin-off 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
Mr Carr opened up about the loss of his co-star and friend revealing that the death of Mr Lock has affected him physically.
“I had a bereavement recently, Sean Lock, my dear, beautiful, funny friend died, and I got sick, the grief really hits you physically,” he told PA news agency.
“But to be able to laugh through that, to be able to watch old clips of him making me cry with laughter, the cathartic power of that.
“And I think in most families, most friendships, when someone dies, when something happens, when someone gets ill, if you can laugh through it, that’s when laughter has a real benefit because it releases endorphins and it makes it easier to cope.”
Mr Lock’s agent announced in August that the star had passed away at home, surrounded by his family.
Mr Carr was among those who paid tribute at the time, posting a message on social media saying that it was “brutal news”.
He tweeted: “I loved him, I’m watching clips of him right now – laughing & crying. I’ll miss him so much."
