THOUSANDS of pounds worth of fines have been dished out to covid rule-breakers from Newport and surrounding areas.
Last week, a number of individuals appeared before Newport Magistrates Court, having fallen foul of lockdown rules.

The below appeared before magistrates between Monday, September 27 and Friday, October 1.
Sophie Taylor Davies, 19, of Caer Odyn, Blaenau Gwent was ordered to pay £2,021 in a fine, costs, and a surcharge for breaching coronavirus restrictions by gathering with another person without reasonable excuse in an Alert Level 4 area on April 6, 2021.
Joshua Saunders, 21, of Cardiff Road, Newport was ordered to pay £2,021 in a fine, costs, and a surcharge for breaching coronavirus restrictions by gathering in a private dwelling at Dewstow Street, Newport – an Alert Level 3 area of Wales, without a reasonable excuse on April 11, 2021.
Kaine Williams, 23, of Dewstow Street, Newport was ordered to pay £2,021 in a fine, costs, and a surcharge for breaching coronavirus restrictions by gathering in a private dwelling in an Alert Level 3 area of Wales without a reasonable excuse on April 11, 2021.

Lauren Wills, 21, of Hillside Avenue, Caerphilly was ordered to pay £2,021 in a fine, costs, and a surcharge for breaching coronavirus restrictions by gathering in a private dwelling at Park View, Bargoed – an Alert Level 3 area of Wales, without reasonable excuse on April 19, 2021.
Deborah Smith, 41, of Thomas Street, Abertridwr was ordered to pay £2,021 in a fine, costs, and a surcharge for breaching coronavirus restrictions by gathering in a private dwelling at Dol Fran, Caerphilly – an Alert Level 3 area of Wales, without reasonable excuse on April 16, 2021.
Kaya McNulty, 20, of Albany Street, Newport was ordered to pay £2,021 in a fine, costs, and a surcharge for breaching coronavirus restrictions by gathering with another person without reasonable excuse at Ennerdale Court, Newport – an Alert Level 4 area of Wales, without reasonable excuse on April 2, 2021.
Portia Nancarrow, 21, of East Usk Road, Newport was ordered to pay £2,021 in a fine, costs, and a surcharge for breaching coronavirus restrictions by gathering with another person without reasonable excuse at Jeffrey Street, Newport – an Alert Level 4 area of Wales, without reasonable excuse on March 13, 2021.
Carly Appleton, 30, of Heol Las, Nelson was ordered to pay £2,021 in a fine, costs, and a surcharge for breaching coronavirus restrictions by gathering in a private dwelling at Dol Fran, Caerphilly – an Alert Level 3 area of Wales, without reasonable excuse on April 16, 2021.

Chloe Parsons, 23, of Jeffrey Street, Newport was ordered to pay £2,021 in a fine, costs, and a surcharge for breaching coronavirus restrictions by gathering with another person without reasonable excuse at Ennerdale Court, Newport – an Alert Level 4 area, on April 2, 2021.
Farhan Ali, 26, of Livingstone Place, Newport was ordered to pay £2,021 in a fine, costs, and a surcharge for breaching coronavirus restrictions by gathering with another person without reasonable excuse at Bolt Close, Newport – an Alert Level 4 area, on April 3, 2021.
Daniel Carl Rees, 30, of St David’s Street, Tonpentre was ordered to pay £891 in a fine, costs, and a surcharge for breaching coronavirus restrictions having been found outside of his place of living without reasonable excuse at Asda car park in Cliff Road, Blackwood, while residing in an Alert Level 4 area of Wales on January 9, 2021.
Sophie Hanaby, 24, of Min Y Coed, Bridgend was ordered to pay £965 in a fine, costs, and a surcharge for breaching coronavirus restrictions by gathering with another person without reasonable excuse at Gelli-deg Street, Maesycwmmer – an Alert Level 4 area, on March 28, 2021.
Tia Brown, 21, of Ennerdale Court, Newport was ordered to pay £2,021 in a fine, costs, and a surcharge for breaching coronavirus restrictions by gathering with another person without reasonable excuse in an Alert Level 4 area on April 2, 2021.
