A CHRISTMAS market is set to take over Newport city centre - with free stalls on offer.
Newport-based company Green Top Events, supported by Newport Now BID, is bringing festive fun to Newport with their popular Christmas market returning bigger and better than before.
Throughout December there will be between 30 and 40 pop-up stalls on Commercial Street, in Friars Walk, and at John Frost Square every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the run-up to Christmas weekend.
And, local traders offering homemade or handmade goods will be able to apply for stalls free of charge, thanks to Newport Now BID sponsoring the event.
Gareth Sullivan, who runs Gren Top Events, said: "Our Christmas market will offer handmade and homemade goods from local traders.
"We know what small businesses have gone through and I felt if we were going to charge traders from Newport to trade in Newport they wouldn’t come.
"The best way to showcase the potential is by giving away stalls for free and helping small businesses.
"We want to see good things happen in Newport and it will be great to link the whole city centre."
Traders from Newport who are selling handmade or homemade goods can apply for a free stall via the Green Tops Events website or can e-mail info@greentopevents.com
The Christmas market will be sponsored by Newport Now BID.
Manager of Newport Now BID, Kevin Ward, said: "We're really pleased to be working with Green Top Events to ensure there will be a Christmas market in the city centre on every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in December ahead of the Christmas weekend."

He continued: "Green Top Events are a Newport business, they already run The Port mini-market in Friars Walk, and we think they deliver a great set of stalls and traders.
"This Christmas trading period is probably the most important ever as we continue to recover from the pandemic, and the BID is keen to do everything we can to increase and encourage footfall for our members.
"We'll be announcing details of our Christmas lights switch-on event soon, and the market weekends will be a great follow-on to that event."
