THE APB Newport Marathon and 10K will once again be televised around the world.

It has been confirmed by event organiser Run 4 Wales that a highlights package will be produced in English and in Welsh.

The marathon takes place on Sunday, October 24, and is expected to be the largest mass participation event to take place in Wales in 2021 after being delayed for 18 months.

A one-hour Welsh language programme will to be broadcast on S4C on the 29 October at 8pm, though the exact date and time of the broadcast may change. It will also be available on BBC iPlayer.

A 30 minute programme in English will be produced and will be available on British Eurosport, Free Sports, The Bike Channel, Horizon Sports and Endurance Sports TV from December.

The coverage will appear on more than 37 channels internationally, with broadcasts being available in France, Ireland, Italy, Turkey, Cyprus, Portugal, Belgium, Germany, Holland, Brazil, Spain, Switzerland and the USA.

The programmes will feature elite men, women and wheelchair races and will have an in depth look at Newport and the surrounding area.

Run 4 Wales chief executive Matt Newman said: "We’re delighted that the ABP Newport Wales Marathon & 10K will once again be televised in 2021.

"The opportunity to beam the event directly into homes around the world will help to showcase Newport’s ability to host major events and fuel future growth of the race.

"As a proud bilingual organisation we’re also so pleased that viewers will be able to re-live the action in Welsh or English."

Nearly 8,000 runners have registered across the marathon and 10K races, with hundreds more expected to join in the with the Family Mile.

Entries for the marathon are closed, but people can still apply for the Family Mile.

The coverage will have a small focus on any inspiring stories from participants.
