Here is a round up of the public notices which have appeared this week in the South Wales Argus:

* Newport City Council is to temporarily ban traffic from using the B4236 Caerleon River Bridge for its full length in both directions so that investigations and repairs can be carried out as necessary.

The alternative route will be via the B4236, M4 junction 25, A4042, Ponthir Road to Caerleon in both directions. It is expected the work will take place between October 17 and 31 (weather permitting) between 7.30am and 5.30pm. The bridge will reopen at the end of each working day.

* Newport City Council is to temporarily close footpath 393/123/1 between Grosvenor road and Caernarvon Drive. No alternative route is available.

The reason is to accommodate strengthening work to Bassaleg Underbridge. The work will run from October 10 and will continue for a period of not more than six months.

* Rubin Lewis O'Brien, Cwmbran, is looking for anyone with a claim against or an interest in the estate of Olive Hilda Sanders (deceased), formerly of 41 Lliswerry Drive, Llanyravon, Cwmbran, who died on December 30, 2020.

* Rubin Lewis O'Brien, Cwmbran, is looking for anyone with a claim against or an interest in the estate of John Philip Charles Butcher (deceased), formerly of Glan Y Nant Bungalow, Cwmbran, who died on July 27, 2021.

* GGP Law Ltd, Blackwood, is looking for anyone with a claim against or an interest in the estate of Teresa Tedstone (otherwise known as Teresa Berry) (deceased), formerly of 12 Forest Hill, The Bryn, Blackwood, who died on July 20, 2021.

* Newbold Solicitors, Cwmbran, is looking for anyone with a claim against or an interest in the estate of Betty Cynthia Smith (deceased) formerly of 3 Greenway Close, Griffithstown, Pontypool, who died on January 11, 2021.

* Generator Power Ltd, of Foxbridge Way, Normanton Industrial Estate, Normanton, Wakefield, is applying for a Goods Vehicle Operator’s Licence to keep five goods vehicles and two trailers at Unit 28, Clearwater Road, Queensway Meadows Industrial Estate, Newport.

* G 8 Transport Ltd, of 8 Clos Ger Y Nant, Caldicot, is applying for a Goods Vehicle Operator's Licence to use outside storage, R J Bartlett, Bentley Green Farm, Crick, Caldicot, as an operating centre for one goods vehicle and one trailer.

* Aldi Stores has applied to Newport City Council, Caerphilly County Borough Council and Torfaen County Borough Council, to vary premises licences for stores at 60 Woodside Road, Cwmbran; Nash Road, Newport; Discovery Park, Barrack Hill, Newport; and Interchange Development Site, Pontymister, Risca, to amend the hours of sale of alcohol to 6am to midnight every day of the week.

* The Welsh Government has made an order for temporary traffic prohibitions and restrictions on the A40 from Brecon Road, Monmouthshire, to the county boundary art Glangrwyney, Powys.

The order is to temporarily:

Ban vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians from using the trunk road from a point 20m west of the centre point of the access to Pyscodlyn Farm Caravan and Camping site to a point 200m east of the centre point of its junction with Glangrwyney Road. The closing will operate intermittently overnight between 8pm and 6am. Advanced notice of any changes to times and dates will be displayed before any reschedules work;

Impose either a 40mph or 30mph speed limit on the length of the A40 described above. This will operated at all times day and night during the work periods.

The order will come in to force at 8pm on October 25 and will be in force of a maximum of 18 months.

The alternative route for eastbound traffic from the western extent of the closure will be via the A40 north-westbound to Crickhowell, A4077 south-eastbound towards Govilon and eastbound A465 Heads of the Valley road to re-join the A40 at Abergavenny. Vice versa for westbound traffic from the eastern extend of the closure.

The alternative route for eastbound vehicles with a weight limit over 7.5 tonnes from the western extent of the closure will be via the A40 north-westbound towards Brecon, A470 southbound towards Merthyr Tydfil, eastbound A465 Heads of the Valley Road and northbound A4143 to re-join the A40 at Abergavenny. Vice versa for westbound vehicles over 7.5 tonnes from the eastern extent of the closure.

* The Welsh Government is to introduce temporary speed restrictions and no overtaking on the A4042 trunk road from Court Farm Roundabout, Torfaen, to Hardwick Roundabout in Monmouthshire. The order is necessary for work to be undertaken.

The order will be to temporarily:

1. Impose a 40mph speed limit, as required, on lengths of the trunk road specified below

2. Impose a 10mph speed limit during convoy working on the length of the trunk road specified below

3. Prohibit all vehicles from overtaking during convoy working on the length of the trunk road specified below.

It is expected that the order will operate intermittently overnight from 8pm to 6am from October 16, 2021, to October 27, 2021, or until the temporary traffic signs are permanently removed.

Temporary 40mph speed limit:

The length of the trunk road that extends from a point 49m north east of the centre point of Court Farm Roundabout to a point 20m south of its junction with Croes Y Pant Lane near Penperlleni.

The length of the trunk road that extends from a point 107m south of the centre point of the entre to the dwelling known as Maes-y-Beryn to a point 18 south of the centre point of its junction with the County Highway to Maerdy.

The length of the trunk road that extends from a point 110m north west of the centre point of its junction with Pen-Heol-y-Bwra to a point 106m south of the centre point of its junction with the B4269 to Llanfoist.

The length of the trunk road that extends from a point 201m south of the centre point of its junction with Hardwick Lane to a point 35m south of the centre point of Hardwick Roundabout.

Temporary 10mph speed limit and prohibition of overtaking during convoy working:

The length of the trunk road that extends from a point 49m north east of the centre point of Court Farm Roundabout to a point 35m south of the centre point of Hardwick Roundabout.
