NEWPORT County AFC will be gunning for revenge when they travel to Morecambe in the first round of the FA Cup.
The Exiles will travel to the Shrimps, who beat them in last season’s League Two play-off final, on the weekend of Friday, November 5.
The tie means a return to Morecambe for club legend Kevin Ellison, who celebrated wildly in front of his former boss Derek Adams after scoring the clincher in Lancashire last season.
However, Morecambe had the last laugh when they triumphed in controversial circumstances at Wembley, with County denied a first-half penalty before Carlos Mendes Gomes' winner came from the spot in the second half of extra time.
The Exiles will wait with interest for the FA Cup referee appointment after being angered by Bobby Madley's performance on the big stage.
Both managers have since left, Adams heading for Bradford and Michael Flynn leaving Rodney Parade at the start of the month.
Morecambe have made a solid start to life in the third tier.
Anyone remember what happened the last time we played @NewportCounty... 👀 #UTS 🦐 pic.twitter.com/sOkGG7Tph2
