NEWPORT Wetlands Reserve was named one of the top walks in the country to see particular wildlife in BBC's Wildlife magazine.
Published in this month's edition, the reserve is featured in a new series highlighting the best walks from across the UK to see different species of animals, and the wetlands' coastal waders and wildfowl were the reason for its inclusion.
Newport Wetlands, on shore of the Severn estuary near Uskmouth, is owned and managed by the Countryside Council for Wales (CCW) and a brand new education and visitor centre is opening on the site in March.
Tom Dalrymple, Newport Wetlands' senior reserve manager for the CCW, said: "We're delighted to advertise the reserve and encourage people to come out to the wetlands and see what's here.
"A series of guided walks and events are organised throughout the year, giving everyone a chance to enjoy the reserve and learn more about its varied wildlife."
