A COMMUNITY litter pick has been arranged to help turn an infamous Newport 'eyesore' into a nature haven.
The disused stretch of dual carriageway near Coedkernew was until recently one of the worst hotspots for fly-tipping in the country.
The issue was such that the rubbish could been seen from space.
Now, a local group of volunteers want to carry on work to transform the area.
After contractors removed the bulky fly-tipped items such as furniture and a mountain of car tyres, a litter pick has been organised for Saturday to make a start on the rest.
Friends of the Road to Nature are aiming to turn the colloquially-named 'Road to Nowhere' into a haven for wildlife and first on their agenda is a litter pick on Saturday.

The event will begin at 10am and around eight or nine local litter-picking groups are already involved.
Also making an appearance will be Newport West MS Jayne Bryant, and her Newport East counterpart John Griffiths has been invited to attend.
Sue Colwill who helped to organise the event said that around 100 people are expected to turn out, weather dependent.
Due to health and safety concerns, the event is limited to people over the age of 16.
