SIXTEEN people were rescued from a block of Newport flats last night after fire broke out.
Fire crews led residents on Frederick Street to safety using ladders and a hydraulic platform.
The blaze is believed to have started in a second floor flat around 11.25pm.
Crews from Maindee, Duffryn and Malpas were called to the scene.
