A ROUND-UP of recent cases heard at Newport Magistrates’ Court and Cwmbran Magistrates’ Court.
CURTIS IVOR CARVALHO, 23, of Tunnel Terrace, Baneswell, Newport, was jailed for 12 weeks after he admitted assaulting a police constable at Sidney Street on August 5.
He was ordered to pay his victim £100 compensation.
SEAN KEVIN COUGHLAN, 50, of Burns Close, Newport, was conditionally discharged for 12 months after he pleaded guilty to assault by beating on July 9.
He was ordered to pay £107 in costs and a surcharge.
THOMAS COLLINGBOURNE, 73, of Ludlow Close, Newport, was ordered to pay £771.30 in a fine, costs and a surcharge after he admitted depositing controlled waste, namely household waste, at Farmfield Lane without the authority of a current waste management permit on February 24.

ADAM JONATHAN BROWN, 30, of Shepherds Close, Sirhowy, Tredegar, was ordered to pay £816 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving without insurance on April 7.
His driving record was endorsed with six points.
KIAN HAYMEN, 19, of Bennett Street, Blaina, was ordered to pay £183 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving without insurance on the A467 in Nantyglo on April 4.
His driving record was endorsed with six points.
CAROLINE JONES, 49, of St Mary’s Road, Pontllanfraith, was ordered to pay £194 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving without a licence at Magor Services on April 6.
Her driving record was endorsed with three points.
JOHN KING, 59, of Somerset Way, Bulwark, Chepstow, was ordered to pay £607 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving without due care and attention in Caerwent on April 3.
His driving record was endorsed with five points.
GARYN THOMAS, 23, of Davies Street, Brynmawr, was ordered to pay £816 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving without insurance on Park Road, Abergavenny, on April 4.
His driving record was endorsed with six points.
DARREN WAYNE WATKINS, 38, of Derby Grove, Newport, was ordered to pay £164 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving without a licence on Nash Road on April 7.
His driving record was endorsed with three points.
MOHAMMED ABDI SHUKRI, 28, of Ferry Road, Grangetown, Cardiff, was conditionally discharged for 12 months after he pleaded guilty to public disorder in Newport on September 15.
He was ordered to pay £107 in costs and a surcharge.
ANDREW SLATER, 33, of Old Hendre Road, Monmouth, was ordered to pay £816 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving without insurance on April 5.
His driving record was endorsed with six points.
