GUY Fawkes Night celebrations went off with a bang in Newport on Friday night, with crowds congregating in St Julian's.
After last year's series of event cancellations, locals were keen to make up for their missed excitment.
Streams of people were making their way down from St Julian's to the St Julian's Courage pub on Caerleon Road long before the fun got under way at 6.30pm.
The cold didn't seem to bother anyone, and once the fireworks started up the only complaints were from the younger attendees who weren't too keen on the noise.
