THE latest figures from Public Health Wales show that new covid cases in Newport have risen above Caerphilly for the first time in weeks.
Newport has 260 new cases reported over the weekend while Caerphilly has reported 228.
The top three highest cases per 100,000 people are in Gwent, with Torfaen (182), Blaenau Gwent (171.8) and Newport (168.1) featuring.
Of all the areas of Gwent, Caerphilly has the lowest amount of cases per 100,000 people (125.9).
The average cases per 100,000 people for Wales is 133.2.
In total, Gwent has recorded 925 new cases while Wales has recorded 4,303 new cases including residents outside of Wales.
