THE mother of the 10-year-old boy, Jack Lis, who died after being attacked by a dog has paid tribute to her son on Facebook.
Emma Whitfield has said that her family will not speak to the media but posted a tribute shortly before Jack was named by the police.
Ms Whitfield said: "With so much heart break and before close friends and family see his name in the news, I have to announce our beautiful boy Jack was taken so tragically yesterday.
"It was not our dog nor did it happen at our family home.
"He was out to play.
"We need the speculation to stop.
"The police will issue this formally later.
"We do not want the media involved any further than they need to be, but they will be naming Jack today as confirmation.
"We will not be speaking to the media at all and would like to ask others to respect this too.
"We love you so much our sweet sweet boy."
Police are still investigating the incident and will remain in the area.
There have been several tributes to Jack, such as flowers left in the street with a note saying 'RIP little one'.
