A MAN was handed a suspended jail sentence after he attacked a shop worker in Newport.
Gareth Worth pleaded guilty to assault by beating against Keiron Marriott at the B&M store at Maesglas Retail Park.
The city’s magistrates’ court heard the victim “thought he was going to be bitten and a disease transferred during the prolonged attack”.

Worth was jailed for 12 weeks, suspended for 18 months, and made the subject of a six-month drug rehabilitation requirement.
The defendant, 29, of Newland Way, Wyesham, Monmouth, was ordered to pay Mr Marriott £200 compensation and £85 costs.
The assault took place on August 9.
