A GWENT business is donating a slice of its profits to a local charity.

Independent company Asset Mortgage Solutions - currently based in Cwmbran - is opening a new branch in Abertillery.

And the company is offering to make a donation to the Tredegar-based Hospice of the Valleys when customers use their services for mortgage, home insurance or life insurance.

Customers need to specify they are contacting them via the Hospice of the Valleys scheme.

The firm donates part of the income it receives from the product the customer takes out - so the cost and terms of the product are not affected.

Donations are £25 for each buildings and contents policy, £25 for life assurance policies and £50 for a mortgage application.

Broker Martyn Roberts said: "We are pleased to support the Hospice of the Valleys, who provide a valuable and much-needed service in the area."

The Hospice of the Valleys fundraising officer Helen Morgan said the charity was grateful for the scheme.

"We hope as many people as possible will use the scheme," she said.

The Hospice provides free, round-the-clock, specialist palliative care to people in Blaenau Gwent who are suffering from life-limiting illnesses such as cancer.

The new branch of Asset Mortgage Solutions opens in Church Street on January 25. For more information call 01495 211311.
