NEWPORT'S Pizza Hut restaurant is set to close, it has been confirmed.
Today (Thursday, November 11), a spokeswoman for the pizza chain confirmed that the city’s only dine-in branch is set to permanently close.
They said that the upcoming closure comes as a result of “disruption due to the pandemic”.
Continuing, they said that the decision to close “was beyond our control”.
The restaurant and takeaway, which is located in Unit 22 at Newport Retail Park in the Spytty area of the city, is a popular pick for residents of Newport and the surrounding Gwent area – and news of the closure will likely come as a blow.

No closing date has officially been given for Newport’s Pizza Hut branch.
But, the Argus understands that the final day of trading will be Saturday, November 27.
It is unclear how many people work at the Spytty branch, or if staff have been offered transfers to nearby branches.
While the restaurant will close, Pizza Hut will retain some presence in the city, with a Pizza Hut delivery branch on Cardiff Road.
However, with no restaurant, anyone wanting to take advantage of dine-in only features, such as the popular pizza buffet or salad bar, instead will have to travel to either Cardiff’s Queen Street or Cardiff Bay branches.
Further afield, there are restaurants in Bristol to the east, or Merthyr Tydfil to the north of Gwent.

“We are saddened by the upcoming closure of our restaurant in Newport Retail Park, however this was beyond our control.
