TWO Caerphilly teenagers will be starring in a children’s TV show next week.

Bailey and Summer, both 13, are ballroom dancers from Blackwood. They will appear on My Life: Battle of the Ballroom on CBBC and iPlayer on Wednesday, November 24 at 7.20pm.

The programme – produced by Yeti – will follow the teenagers as they train and prepare for their biggest competition at Blackpool’s Tower Ballroom.

Bailey has autism and is visually impaired. He puts his focus and determination into his dancing, while Summer has aspirations to turn professional and has been dancing since the age of two.

The documentary follows the pair training through the Covid lockdowns and back at their local dance club once restrictions were eased.

The pair battle against 600 competitors in various classes and categories where they perform Latin, Ballroom and the Cha-Cha-Cha routines.

Sian Price, creative director at Yeti, said: “The moment I saw Bailey and Summer waltzing around a hotel car park during Covid I knew I was witnessing a truly special friendship and two extraordinarily talented dancers.

“It’s been inspiring to follow their journey to Blackpool and have the privilege of sharing their lives over the last six months. I’ve no doubt viewers will certainly be rooting for them, and a few might even be inspired to try out ballroom dancing themselves.”
