Skenfrith Community Shop had another good year in 2007, despite some very wet weekends and higher capital expenditure on maintenance and other essentials. The profits have been distributed as follows:- £1000 to St. Bridget's Church towards replacing a window £500 to Cross Ash Luncheon Club to help with transport £500 to St.Michael's Hospice £500 to St.David's Hospice £500 to St. Anne's Hospice £500 to Macmillan Cancer Support £500 to Air Ambulance Service £1000 has been set aside for two more seats at Skenfrith Castle - one on the green and one on the river bank (subject to CADW approval) The Constitution of the Commun-ity Shop states that any profit must benefit the local community in some way. Although all of the above are not immediately local the committee felt that never-the-less they all fulfilled that criterion.
The shop will open again at Easter-time. Volunteers to man the shop are always welcome. Good quality bric-a-brac is also welcome.
