A CANADIAN make-up artist, with more than 1.5 million Instagram followers, is delivering a masterclass in Newport.

Mimi Choi, a Canadian-based make-up artist renowned for her unique style – focusing on illusionary work – will deliver a make-up masterclass at Newport’s Celtic Manor in January 2022.

Ms Choi graduated from Canada’s top fashion school, Blanche Macdonald Centre, in 2014 – she now teachers here and leads masterclasses and workshops around the globe, demonstrating her iconic looks which have earned her international fame and a huge following on social media @mimles

She created model and actor Ezra Miller's hugely talked about look - featuring seven eyes - for the 2019 Met Gala and has collaborated with huge brands including:

And in January, following a masterclass in LA, Ms Choi will head to Newport – delivering her masterclass, along with Newport beautician Jenna McDonnell, at Celtic Manor on January 31.

The date of tickets going on sale will be announced soon, with the masterclass anticipated to attract visitors from all over the UK.

Jenna McDonnell, who will be hosting an afterparty at her beauty salon on Chepstow Road after the main event, said: “Mimi was due to come in September last year, but this was delayed by the Covid pandemic.

“Her work is absolutely incredible. People from all over the world will want to see her, so this is just amazing.

“I was lucky to have found her quite early in her career and have loved her work since day one so I can’t wait to meet her.”

Her after party – in keeping with the theme of illusions – will include magicians, a hot buffet, and live music, with Jenna McDonnell hoping to have Goldie Lookin’ Chain perform at the event.
