A WOMAN was warned she faces going to jail after admitting animal cruelty charges against a pet monkey.
Vicki Holland, 37, of Wordsworth Road, Newport, committed the offences against a marmoset.
She pleaded guilty to two counts of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.
Newport Crown heard in one offence the animal was “terrified as a result of her aggression and abuse whilst it was within a toilet bowl”.

The charges relate to charges between September 15, 2019 and January 14, 2020.
Holland’s sentence was adjourned for the preparation of a report but she was told all options would be open to the court.
She was granted unconditional bail.
Marmosets are small monkeys native to the tropical forests of South and Central America.
