A CRASH which has seen the A465 Heads of the Valleys Road closed since lunchtime was preceeded by a police pursuit.
The crash, which occurred near Tredegar at around 12.10pm today, involved a car and a road worker who was left with serious injuries.
Police have confirmed that a pursuit was being conducted prior to the collision.
They have also stated that the police vehicle involved was not the car involved in the crash.
They have not commented on the condition of the vehicle being chased, however the road worker was taken to hospital after sustaining serious injuries.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is now involved due to the fact that a police pursuit was in progress.
The A645 remains closed eastbound.

A Gwent Police spokesperson said: “We received a report of a road traffic collision on the A465 the Heads of the Valleys road, near Tredegar, at around 12.10pm on Monday, November22.
“The collision involved a car and a road worker, who was taken to hospital via Wales Air Ambulance after sustaining serious injuries in the collision.
“The eastbound carriageway is currently closed, and the incident is ongoing.
“We’ve contacted the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) in line with standard procedure as officers were involved in a pursuit prior to the collision.”
