A WOMAN was freed by firefighters after the car she was driving was in collision with a 4x4 in Newport earlier today.
The female driver was treated for neck injuries by paramedics at the scene of the accident which happened at around 1.30pm in Corporation Road.
Her maroon Ford Escort was emerging from Coverack Road and attempting to turn right into Corporation Road when it was in collision with a silver Suzuki 4x4.
Both vehicles were moved by police and fire officers within twenty minutes.
Residents branded the junction "dangerous" saying a blind spot meant that traffic accidents were common.
Tony Leith, owner of Sunshade Blinds in Coverack Road, said: "Cars turning off into Corporation Road are often hit by vehicles coming the other way.
"It has become a monthly occurrence, and its got worse since the George Street traffic lights system changed which means its green for a shorter time so cars drive even faster."
