EX-miner William Morgan, 87 and his wife Edna, 86, a former nurse at Pontypool Hospital have lived on the street since 1969.
They've been married for 67 years and some of their happiest memories are in Wainfelin Avenue.
"It was a slum clearance which brought us here," said Mr Morgan, who underground worked for 46 years in the Tirpentwys Colliery .
"I think the community spirit is good and it's continued despite a lot of new people coming in," he said.
"When we first moved in there were hardly any young people - it was all pensioners."
"I like the street - it's got a special feel to it," said Mrs Morgan.
"We just bought the house at the time because it was the one we could afford and it was in the right area for work - it's turned out fine."
