A GROUP of Newport firefighters have got a licence to thrill as they prepare to go undercover in the name of charity.
The crews from Maindee station are set to leave onlookers shaken and stirred as they hold a Casino Royale Night in aid of the Fire Service National Benevolent Fund (FSNBF).
Maindee HQ will be transformed as the station is decked out with roulette tables and cocktails are served all night.
And the officers are inviting wannabe Bonds and Bond girls to join them for the fundraiser on Saturday, February 9.
Firefighter Darren Cleaves said: "Behind the fun is a serious message. When firefighters run into a burning building there is always the very real risk of serious injury.
"When the worst happens, not only firefighters suffer, but also their families. The FSNBF is the only charity dedicated to supporting firefighters and their families in times of need and helping to speed their recovery back to operational duty.
"We hope that as well as allowing us to be James Bond for the night, this event will go some way to raising the £7 million the charity needs each year."
If you would like more information, or to purchase tickets, £5 each, please contact Maindee fire station on 01633 275830.
