ELLEN Elliott, 79, said: I like living here, the only thing I dislike is The King pub, after 10 years there's hardly a window left in there.' Mrs Elliott was born in Newport, has lived in Downing Street for 50 years and has seen her fair share of people living in the number 10s, both London and Newport.

She said: I remember a elderly couple from the Valleys who moved into number 10, their son knew Mr Kinnock.

They were in their 80s or 90s and they made a big thing of it, if anything happened the cameras from the Argus would come down and they would come out in their best clothes.

I wouldn't move from here, I've always found it very pleasant.'
