THE full programme for the fifth Monmouth Women's Festival will be launched next week There will also be the chance to buy tickets for the festival, which celebrates the lives, creativity and achievements of women and marks International Women's Day on March 8.
The festival sees Women of international and national standing visiting the town to speak during the event.
Already confirmed is An Audience with Helen Lederer, comedian, writer and actor, which takes place on Friday, March 7 at The Blake Theatre and is sponsored by Mono, Church Street, Monmouth.
Political headliner Ann Widdecombe MP, one of Britain's best known woman politicians will share some of her experiences of the world of Westminster at The Blake Theatre on March 6.
Other highlights include a talk by Sarah Dickins, a familiar face on BBC Wales and was a reporter on the flagship business programme Working Lunch and will give an insider's view of the TV industry and how attitudes to women have changed during the last twenty years.
And a thought-provoking talk by Professor of Islamic Studies Mona Siddiqui on March 3 will look at the women of Islam - how Western society perceives them, and what their true place is in Muslim culture, what influences them, and what influence they can have on the troubled times in which we live.
The full line up will be revealed at a coffee morning being held at Monmouth Priory on Saturday, February 2 between 10am and 12 noon.
The coffee morning will also provide a chance for art lovers to view and make a sealed bid for two paintings donated by Nikki Emery and Ann Baxter-Wright, two of the most talented women artists in the Monmouth area.
The paintings will be on show at Festival events, and bids will be accepted from now until the end of the festival, when each painting will be sold to the highest bidder and the funds raised go to support the Festival.
More examples of these artists' work, plus work by Jan Thompson and Tess Cooling will be exhibited during the Festival at an exhibition at Monmouth Priory.
