THE Farmer's Daughter prides itself on serving food prepared from scratch and uses locally-sourced produce - even the herbs are from the garden.
This family-owned and run restaurant is quite intimate with a rustic feel about it.
The menu isn't huge but there is something to suit everyone - even if you want to try something more exotic like crocodile or zebra!
However, our choices were a little more conventional.
My dining companion opted for beer battered mushrooms with a fresh garlic dip, to start, served with a side salad.
I have to point out that they really are beer battered, because the staff collected the beer straight from the bar while we were waiting.
I went for the soup of the day, which was brocolli.
For the main course I had the organic vegetable strudel. It was enormous. A beautifully displayed filo pastry strudel containing well-flavoured vegetables. Delicious.
My partner went for a sirloin steak with the chef's special parsnip crisps. All steaks at the Farmer's Daughter are from Welsh Blacks, guaranteeing great flavour.
Both dishes were served with roast and new potatoes and seasonal veg.
After that strudel I had no room left for dessert but my partner opted for the tiramisu, which was freshly made and indulgent as all good desserts should be!
At £46 with a handful of drinks, it was incredibly good value for the quality of food on offer.
