THE main road through Tintern finally been reopens following a landslip earlier this month.
The A466 was closed through the Monmouthshire village following the incident on January 15, in which 200 tonnes of debris slid onto the road following a night of torrential rain.
A spokeswoman for Monmouthshire council said the road would be open this weekend, although it had originally been due to reopen a week ago.
Forestry Commission engineers have been conducting detailed investigations of the landslip site, known as Barbados Hill, which has seen three such incidents in the last year.
Angry residents demanded answers from the Forestry Commission, which owns the land, saying that someone could have been seriously hurt or killed in the landslip.
A public meeting is being held at 7.30pm on February 4 at Tintern Village Hall to discuss ways of tackling the problem.
