POLICE have asked Newport drivers to be patient when a horse drawn procession goes through town tommorrow for the funeral of a local man.

Wally Thomas, 78, of Kirby Daniel Court, Pillgwenlly, passed away on January 18 at the Royal Gwent Hospital.

His funeral service is due to take place at 10am at St Stephen's and Holy Trinity Church in Pillgwenlly but the procession is expected to begin at 9.30am.

Traffic will be slowed as a horse drawn carriage makes its way from the Mr Thomas's residence in Kirby Daniel Court to the church in Adeline Street.

The procession from the church to St Woolos Cemetery is expected to start at 10.45am, for the internment at 11am.
