A BRAND new Peugeot 107 is the first prize of this year's raffle at Newport's St Anne's Hospice.
The raffle, launched last week by Mayor Allan Morris, will been drawn in July with organisers hoping to raise at least £30,000 through ticket sales.
St Anne's fundraising team member, Linda Davies, said: "Raffle tickets cost one pound each and any money we get is much needed and much appreciated.
"We raised £26,000 in last year's competition and we're aiming for more than £30,000 this time around."
The car has been donated by businessman John Badland and Mayor Allan Morris paid tribute to Mr Badland's generosity.
"The generosity of this man is breathtaking and inspirational.
"He doesn't just donate a big prize he stands there in the cold weather and sells tickets and you cannot get any better than that."
Councillor Morris said he was full of praise for St Anne's Hospice.
"Sadly a few years ago we lost a very close friend of ours and he died under the care of St Anne's Hospice - so Jane and I witnessed their work first hand and they are a fantastic charity and deserve all the help they can get."
