FIREWORKS set off on their lawn, half a dozen taxis called late at night and £2,000 of damage to a new car.

This is just some of what a retired High Cross couple are sick of putting up with.

Ben Morris, 68, has lived at his Granville Close house with his wife Janet for 35 years, but as time has gone on, things have got worse and worse.

Mr Morris says over the past 12 months there has been repeated damage to both his and his neighbours' property, and now he worries the incidents are spiralling out of control.

"We can't even sleep at night because of worry about what's going to happen next - we are living in fear," he said.

Over the past year, Mr Morris said there has been a catalogue of vandalism directed at him.

"All of my flowers have been pulled out and I have come back from holiday to find the locks on my doors have been superglued so I've had to call the police to break in.

"My front window has been smashed and fireworks have gone off in my front lawn.

"One night seven taxis turned up in half an hour - I hadn't booked any of them."

In the latest attack, Mr Morris' has had his new car damaged, costing £2,000 to get resprayed.

Fellow Granville Close resident Jim Horner, 68, said he and Mr Morris had contacted the police and councillors to alert them to the issues, and at last a meeting has been arranged to discuss the issues.

"We have gone through all the right channels, but everyone's hands seem to be tied," he said.

"The last three or four months have been absolute hell."

Gwent Police confirmed they had been called out to a number of incidents in Granville Close and were investigating the incidents.
