Youngsters at an Abergavenny school have been inducted into new roles where they will spread the message of road safety.
Two year six pupils at Cantref Primary School, St David's Road have been elected by their peers and voted junior road safety officers.
Two year five pupils will act as their deputies and take on the role next year.
The youngsters were given notepads, folders and will wear special badges, baseball caps and fluorescent jackets when taking part in projects such as road safety features, surveys, seat belt use and parking on double yellow lines.
Teacher Andrew Haigh said: "The fluorescent jacket will give them the identity of who they are to the other children.
"They will also be helping to encourage parents to be more conscious of road safety."
The youngsters gave a pledge and recited poems at a special induction ceremony that was attended by Monmouthshire County Council highways manager Paul Keeble.
