Last September the specially-formed Committee to deal with this July's Festival of Twinning 2008 contacted the Graphic Design department at King Henry VIII School, Abergavenny, enquiring whether or not it might be possible for the pupils to design a logo for this important event. Andy Martin suggested his Year 10 and Year 12 groups would enjoy doing such a project as part of their modular work, and so they were given the competition brief.
18 pupils submitted entries, many of them containing multiple designs, and these were initially judged in November and reduced to a short-list of 6.
From these the winner and runner-up were chosen with the remaining 4 being awarded Highly Commended.
The 6 pupils are: WINNER (£50 HMV voucher) Maisie Noble, Year 12 RUNNER-UP (£25 HMV voucher) Aaron Hasleham, Year 10 HIGHLY COMMENDED Josh Curtis, Year 10 Taddy Edmondson, Year 10 Joab Froggatt, Year 10 Rory Havard, Year 10
