The January meeting of the Chepstow Group of Gwent Wildlife Trust took the form of a talk by Martin Morgan on the tradition of Lave Net Fishing.

Martin gave a fascinating presentation, with a demonstration of the way in which the nets are used and how they are made and repaired by hand. The audience was fascinated and found it encouraging to know that this wonderful old craft is being kept going, albeit withlittle help from any authorities, by such committed people.

The February meeting, which will be held at the Chepstow Leisure Centre on Thursday, February 7 at 8pm, will feature an extremely brief AGM to keep everyone up to date with the current events at the Trust.

Following this Barry Embling, from the RSPB, will give a talk entitled, "Pied Flycatchers - the Nagshead Reserve, Forest of Dean".All are welcome - admittance fees will be £1.50 for GWT members and £2 for non-members.
