BACK in her Texaco uniform and happily smiling for her customers you would never think that just two days ago Blackwood filling station attendant Christine Bradfield was hitting the headlines with her £1.1 million bingo win.

The 53-year-old was back to work yesterday, despite hitting the jackpot on Sunday night at Castle Bingo Merthyr Tydfil and was congratulated by customers including Gareth Mason.

Despite her win, Mrs Bradfield from Bargoed has no intention of putting her feet up and giving up work: "There's only so much housework you can do, so what would I do sat at home all day?" she joked.

It's been non-stop for the winner since her windfall, being whisked off to appear on GMTV where she rubbed shoulders with Patsy Kensit and being interviewed by a host of reporters.

She has worked at the service station with daughter Nicola Bradfield, 29 for the past year, who has already come up with a number of ideas for the winnings.

Miss Bradfield joked: "If she can't think of anything better to do with it, maybe she can buy me a house."

Manager Jan Hil said: "I think I'd be a millionaire as well if I had a pound for every person who has come in today to congratulate her."

Among the many well wishers, Anthony Bridle, 22 from Grove Park, Blackwood said: "Awesome. It couldn't have happened to a nicer person."

Mrs Bradfield has no mortgage and will split the money with her sister-in-law Lorraine Williams, 57 who was playing with her at the time.
