A MOTHER and grandmother who became depressed after suffering an illness took her own life, an inquest in Newport was told today.
Sharon Jayne Elahi, 49, was found hanging from a bannister in her Cwmbran home by her husband of 32 years when he returned from a visit to the supermarket.
Karam Elahi described how his wife had made two previous suicide attempts and he had given up work to look after her.
Mr Elahi, who lived with his wife in Brookside, St Dials, said she had suffered a seizure in 2005 and on medication.
She became depressed as a result of her illness and was on medication for that as well as receiving treatment at Talygarn Hospital in Pontypool.
Deputy Gwent coroner Wendy James said Mrs Elahi left a note which indicated she was finding it difficult to cope with the amount of medication she was prescribed and the hospital visits.
Mrs James recorded a verdict that Mrs Elahi killed herself while depressed.
