A REGULAR drinker who died after a night out was found to have just under six times the legal drink drive limit of alcohol in his blood, an inquest was told.
Leigh Glyn Sculley, of East Pentwyn, Blaina, was just 35 when he died last October.
His fiancee Emma Daley told the hearing in Newport that Mr Sculley, a council labourer, would drink at least eight cans of lager every day and anything up to 20 a day when out socialising.
Ms Daley was in bed one Saturday night when she heard a noise. She saw Mr Sculley lying in the garden.
She went outside but there was no response from him so neighbours helped carry him inside.
They phoned for an ambulance and started cardio-pulominary resuscitation, but he was later pronounced dead at Abergavenny's Nevill Hall Hospital.
Deputy Gwent coroner Wendy James said Mr Sculley died as a result of alcohol poisoning and a head injury.
Tests revealed he had 464 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
She concluded that Mr Sculley lost his balance and fell, hitting his head against a brick wall in the garden.
She recorded a verdict of misadventure.
