A BURST water pipe is causing problems for large areas of eastern Newport today, Wednesday.
Welsh Water said people affected may experience “low pressure or no water” while work is ongoing to fix the problem.
One reader told the Argus the problem began in the early hours of the morning.
Properties in Bishpool, Christchurch, Lliswerry, Maindee and Somerton are among those affected.
Another said on social media they had been forced to use “water from the paddling pool to flush the toilet”.
Water supplies are expected to be “fully restored by later today”, Welsh Water said at 1.30pm today.
Crews are currently carrying out repair works in Chepstow Road.
The burst pipe comes immediately after Newport, and the rest of Wales, experienced two days of “extreme heat” as a heatwave from continental Europe made its way north.
Monday was the nation’s hottest day on record, as thermometers in Flintshire hit 37.1 degrees.
Temperatures in Gwent were slightly cooler.
