EIGHT Torfaen residents have been ordered to pay a combined total of almost £7,500 after refusing to give information about alleged driving offences.
The defendants had their cases heard in court – all at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court – for failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle when required.
They were ordered to pay a combined £7,432 between them.
ROBERT JONATHAN DAWES, 55, of Lon Afon Llwyd in Pontrhydyrun, Cwmbran, has been ordered to pay £1,720 after being found guilty of failing to identify the driver of a vehicle alleged to have been speeding.
The alleged offence related to a Porsche Panamera Turbo SE Hybrid, which was said to have been clocked doing 87mph on the A48 near Pensarn in Carmarthenshire on October 11 last year.
Dawes pleaded not guilty to a charge of failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle when required.
He was found guilty on Wednesday, July 13 at Llanelli Magistrates' Court.
Dawes was fined £1,000, and ordered to pay £620 in costs and a £100 surcharge. He also had six points added to his licence.
NEIL PRITCHARD, 45, of Clos Afon Llwyd in Riverside, Pontypool, has been banned from driving after picking up too many points on his licence.
Pritchard was asked by officers about a Peugeot 207 which was allegedly caught doing 36mph on the 30mph Newport Road in Cardiff, at the junction with Rover Way on December 23.

STEWART HALL, 46, Mynydd Maen Road in Pontnewydd, has been fined after keeping tight-lipped over a BMW which was caught speeding in Cardiff.
The alleged offence related to a BMW 520D being caught doing 36mph in the 30mph zone on Newport Road in Cardiff, at the junction with Colchester Avenue, on February 3.

NATHAN PURCHASE, 34, of Blodwen Road in New Inn, refused to identify the driver of a BMW caught speeding in Cardiff.
The alleged speeding offence took place on January 22 on Newport Road, where the driver was said to have been clocked doing 40mph at the junction with Rover Way.

SHAUN GLYNN, 32, of The Haldens in Fairwater, has been banned from driving for six months after refusing to identify the driver of a car which had allegedly been caught speeding.
Glynn was questioned about a Nissan Qashqai, which had been allegedly caught doing 57mph on the A470 northbound on the Upper Boat Interchange to Rhydyfelin – a 50mph zone – on January 9.

LEWIS JAMES HAYES, 28, of West Roedin in Coed Eva, was also questioned about an alleged driving offence on the A470 at Pontypridd.
Officers asked Hayes about a Seat Leon which had allegedly been caught doing 57mph on the northbound A470, on the Upper Boat Interchange to Rhydyfelin – a 50mph zone – on March 6.

DANIEL JOHN BOURNE, 31, of Penylan Fields in Varteg, was ordered to pay £816 in a fine, costs and a surcharge after failing to identify the driver of a vehicle which had allegedly been speeding.
Officers questioned Bourne about a Ford which was allegedly caught doing 38mph on North Road in Cardiff – a 30mph zone – on January 24.

Bourne was ordered to pay a £660 fine, as well as £90 in costs and a £66 surcharge. He was also handed six penalty points.
GRAHAM TAYLOR, 67, of Pontnewydd Walk in Cwmbran, has been fined after refusing to identify the driver of a vehicle allegedly caught speeding.
The alleged offence took place on February 7 on the A4119 at Pontyclun, at the junction with School Road, where a Toyota was caught doing 46mph in the 40mph zone.
